: Investigation of Gauge/Gravity Correspondence Including Higher Derivative Corrections

Tv : One of the powerful techniques in string theory is gauge/gravity correspondence which enables us to study strong coupling region of the gauge theory. In this talk, I will investigate the gauge/gravity correspondence including higher derivative corrections in string theory and M-thoery. First I derive the higher derivative corrections in string theory and M-theory by imposing local supersymmetry. Then I will apply these corrections to the black 0-brane thermodynamics and AdS3/CFT2 correspondence in topologically massive gravity. These results indicate that the gauge/gravity correspondence holds including higher derivative corrections.

: CP Violation in Higher Dimensional Gauge Theories

Tv : In spite of great success of the Kobayashi-Maskawa model, the origin of CP violation still seems to be not conclusive yet. Let us note that in string theories or gauge-Higgs unification scenario, proposed as an attractive solution to the hierarchy problem, to break CP is a challenging issue, since all couplings are real to start with. It is then pointed out that in such higher dimensional theories, as a new mechanism, CP violation due to the complex structure of the compactifies space is possible. Furthermore, spontaneous CP violation due to the VEV of the Higgs field, having odd CP eigenvalue, is known to be operative. This talk is based on recent papers, Phys.Rev.D80:055025,2009, arXiv:0910.2314 [hep-ph].

Tv : The Seiberg-Witten prepotentials are described by quasiclassical integrable systems. Their deformed versions - the Nekrasov instanton partition functions can be directly formulated in terms of correlators in two-dimensional conformal theories. In the simplest cases this goes back to the fermionic representations of classical tau-functions, though not in their conventional form. The full 4d/2d duality (recently revived by Alday, Gaiotto and Tachikawa) leads to exact formula the for nontrivial instantonic renormalization of coupling in 4d conformal QCD and expresses instantonic corrections in the asymptotically-free Yang-Mills theories directly in terms of the scalar products of the 2d Virasoro descendants.

: Probing the dynamics of QCD through vacuum polarization

Tv : Vacuum Polarization Functions (VPF) of vector and axial vector currents of quarks give important information on the dynamics of QCD. We carry out computations of VPF in 2 and 2+1 flavor QCD with dynamical fermions having an exact chiral symmetry on the lattice.
Using VPF, we extract the low energy properties QCD using sum rules. We also make a test of Operator Product Expansion (OPE) and determine the strong coupling constant and other vacuum condensates.

: Baxterfs Q-operaters and functional relations in supersymmetric spin chains

Tv : We develop Yang-Baxter integrability structures connected with the quantum affine superalgebra $U_{q}(\hat{gl}(m|n))$. As an example, we will mainly treat m = 2; n = 1 case, which is based on collaboration with Prof. V. Bazhanov (ANU) [1]. Baxterfs Q-operators are explicitly constructed as supertraces of certain monodromy matrices associated with (q-deformed) bosonic and fermionic oscillator algebras. There are six different (non-trivial) Q-operators in m = 2; n = 1 case, obeying a few fundamental fusion relations, which imply all functional relations between various commuting transfer matrices. The results are universal in the sense that they do not depend on the quantum space of states and apply both to lattice models and to continuous quantum field theory models as well. We also found wronskian-like expressions of T- and Q-functions for $U_{q}(\hat{gl}(m|n))$ for any m and n [2].

: Boundary phenomena in the dilute O(n) matrix model

Tv : We study the boundary critical behavior of the dilute O(n) loop model with the anisotropic boundary condition introduced by Jacobsen and Saleur (JS), using the methods of 2D quantum gravity. The phase space is parametrized by two kinds of temperature couplings, which control the total loop length and the number of times the loops touch the boundary respectively. We determine the location of the critical points, identify the operators associated to the bulk / boundary thermal perturbations and explore the phase structure of the problem.

Tv : Effects of matrix orientifolding that preserves supersymmetries are considered in the IIB matrix model with regard to its effective dynamics generated for diagonal elements. Taking the case of maximal supersymmetries and the long distance expansion of the one-loop effective action as well as cases where the size of the matrices is small, we demonstrate that the directional asymmetry of spacetime brought upon by this setup in fact leads to that of the forces exerting on the spacetime points: in addition to the two-body attraction between two points, there are attractions toward the four dimensional plate.
