Title Toric topology and polytope theory
Date Nov 17 (Wed.) 16:00~17:00
Place Dept. of Mathematics, Sci.Bldg., 3040
Abstract Toric topology is the study of algebraic, combinatorial, geometric, and homotopy theoretic aspects of manifolds endowed by certain well behaved actions of the torus. One of the most interesting objects in toric topology is a manifold M which admits an effective half dimensional compact torus action whose orbit space can be identified with a simple polytope P. Surely, M and P are closely related. For instance, the face number of P is determined by the betti number of M. In this talk, we introduce more properties of P determined by the cohomology rings of M, and discuss related problems.

Title Invariant differential operators on Siegel-Jacobi space and Maass-Jacobi forms
Date Jul 23 (Fri.) 16:30~17:30
Place Dept. of Mathematics, Sci.Bldg., 3040
Abstract In this talk we will discuss differential operators on the Siegel-Jacobi space invariant under the natural action of the Jacobi group, and using these invariant differential operators we study Maass-Jacobi forms. Maass-Jacobi forms play an important role in the spectral theory on the Siegel-Jacobi space. In the end of my talk, I will propose several important problems that must be investigated in the future.

Title Cycle spaces of flag domains and D-modules
Date Jun 23 (Wed.) 16:30~17:30
Place Dept. of Mathematics, Sci.Bldg., 3040
Abstract Let G be a semisimple algebraic group, P a parabolic subgroup, X = G/P the corresponding generalized flag manifold and G_0 a real form of G. A "flag domain" (i.e. a open G_0-orbit) D in X could have a complicated geometry; anyway, one can associate to it -by means of the so-called "Matsuki correspondence"- a "cycle space" M(D) which is a Stein manifold. In this talk we shall introduce the above framework, and in particular we shall study, using the formalism of D-modules and homological algebra, a natural integral transform which transfers data (functions, cohomology classes, …) from to the "difficult" space D to the "simple" space M(D).
